Children born in fall are blessed with the most beautiful time of year! While many kids tend to enjoy summer birthday parties full of sunshine and water balloon wars, fall birthday parties hold much more potential for fun that doesn’t require as much sunscreen! For school-aged children, birthday parties are a great reason to invite new classmates and establish new relationships early on in the school year. Fall birthday parties also mean that the kids can spend more time outside, comfortably, and you don’t have to worry as much about the hazards that water and heat pose. To get started planning your kiddo’s fall birthday party, we have gathered up a few ideas.

Fair

Who doesn’t love the fair? Delicious food, rides, games, and plenty of exciting things to do! For your kid’s birthday party, create a mini-fair in their name! Set up simple games and offer small party favors as prizes. Stock the party with your favorite fair snacks including caramel apples and funnel cakes. You can set up tents in the yard or set hay bales as benches. Theme your fair anyway you like and celebrate fall and your kid at the same time!

Costume Party

We aren’t suggesting to make a second Halloween party (unless that’s what your kid is into!) but, every kid has trouble deciding the ONE thing they want to dress up as for Halloween. Throw a themed costume party and let them pick two costumes this year! Some costume themes include superheroes, Disney characters, Hollywood stars, or use their favorite movie or game. Make snacks and games that fit the theme and have your camera ready!

Magic or Science Party

Help encourage kids to be excited about both back-to-school and your kid’s birthday party by incorporating some learning. Science-themed birthday parties offer the kids a chance to learn and explore while having fun! Set up some science experiments and let the kids discover new things. With a magic party, you can test the kids’ logical skills while celebrating their imaginations!

Trampoline Park

If you love fall party ideas, but don’t want the hassle of decorating, hosting, and cleaning up your home, take the party elsewhere! Trampoline park birthday parties are increasingly popular and kids love them! There are many benefits to booking your birthday party at a local indoor trampoline park including no required set up or clean up at your own house, the weather has no bearing on the success of the party, and the kids will go home exhausted!

If you are interested in hosting your kid’s birthday party at one of Jacksonville’s best birthday party venues, look no further than Rebounderz Extreme Fun Zone. Our birthday party packages include a party planner to handle all of the logistics, in addition to complete the setup and cleanup of the party room! The kids can spend the day jumping around and enjoying all the activities we have to offer. All you have to do is invite the guests and supply the cake! To book your party date, contact us today!

5 Ways to Celebrate Women’s Health and Fitness Day 2018 https://www.rebounderz.com/5-ways-to-celebrate-womens-health-and-fitness-day-2018/ https://www.rebounderz.com/5-ways-to-celebrate-womens-health-and-fitness-day-2018/#respond Mon, 20 Aug 2018 18:05:07 +0000 https://rebounderz.wpengine.com/?p=6183 Continue reading 5 Ways to Celebrate Women’s Health and Fitness Day 2018]]>

The third Wednesday in September has been celebrated as National Women’s Health and Fitness Day since 2002 to help bring awareness to the unique wellness concerns that women face but have not been historically talked about. Women’s’ health issues are not only important for women to understand, but also the men in their lives, and the nation as a whole. It wasn’t long ago that women were banned from sporting and fitness events because it was believed that the physical stress of physical fitness may cause reproductive issues. To spread awareness and take advantage of such an important day, there are a few ways you can celebrate!

1. Gather for a Healthy Meal

America’s favorite way to celebrate just about anything is with a meal! Gather up your favorite women and share a healthy meal. This is a great opportunity to discuss health and wellness issues while putting an emphasis on healthy eating habits and nutrition. You could even suggest doing a healthy recipe swap. Prepare your favorite healthy dish and make it a potluck!

2. Identify Your Risks

National Women’s Health and Fitness Day is a great opportunity to evaluate your health and fitness status, honestly. Once you understand where you are at, you can better identify some risks and help to mitigate them. Women are disproportionately affected by heart disease, osteoporosis, and obesity. When you better understand your risk, you can start to make changes to help prevent them. What better day to start than Women’s Health and Fitness Day?

3. Set a Healthy Goal

Remember your New Year’s resolutions that have fallen to the wayside over the last nine months? This is a great opportunity to try again or set a new, updated goal. Healthy goals include something like “train for a 5k,” “quit smoking,” or “drink at least eight glasses of water daily.” Health goals do not have to be major, all healthy changes help to improve your overall wellness.

4. Schedule Medical Appointments

If you are a woman, it is important to ensure that you are making regular preventive health appointments, specifically ones with your gynecologist. Depending on your age, medical history, and conditions, your doctor will make a check-up plan ranging from a Pap-smear every three years to an exam and mammogram every six months. At these appointments, you can also address birth control, vaccines, and STD/STI information and testing. If you are not a woman, this is a good opportunity to talk to the women in your life about preventative appointments they should be attending. Don’t worry, you don’t need to go into detail about medical conditions, but can encourage them to schedule routine appointments to ensure everything is well!

5. Get in a Workout

What better day to exercise your fitness than on a day dedicated to your fitness! If you already workout regularly, grab a girl pal who doesn’t and do something fun to encourage them to start their fitness journey. Physical exercise and fitness are not only important to fit in your favorite pair of jeans but to your overall health and wellbeing. Check out some of the tips offered from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. We suggest something fun that will allow you the opportunity to celebrate with your favorite girls, such as heading to your local indoor trampoline park for an hour of rebounding!

At Rebounderz Extreme Fun Zone, we believe that every person should live the best, healthy life that they can. We aim to provide a place where people of all ages can come and enjoy a fun workout that helps improve their health and fitness! If you are looking for the perfect place to gather up all the girls and women in your life to engage in an enjoyable workout, contact us at Rebounderz of Jacksonville today!

How Obstacle Courses Can Help You Overcome Life’s Challenges https://www.rebounderz.com/how-obstacle-courses-can-help-you-overcome-lifes-challenges/ https://www.rebounderz.com/how-obstacle-courses-can-help-you-overcome-lifes-challenges/#respond Mon, 16 Jul 2018 20:44:56 +0000 https://rebounderz.wpengine.com/?p=6024 Continue reading How Obstacle Courses Can Help You Overcome Life’s Challenges]]> Life is full of all sorts of hurdles and obstacles. There are the physical obstacles, barriers of rules, challenging circumstances, and mental hurdles. Life is, in no way, easy by any means. However, it is overcoming these obstacles and hurdles that help make you stronger and more resilient. While some people don’t understand the point of voluntarily attempting an obstacle course, there are many positive benefits and they operate as a giant simile for life — the rolling log balance beam is like tackling puberty while the rope climb is like grappling for academic successes and the barbed wire low-crawl is like your quest for financial freedom! Obstacle courses are great for helping tackle life’s challenges. Here, we will discuss a few ways that obstacle courses can help you overcome life’s hurdles.

Focused Determination

When you complete an obstacle course or train to complete a difficult obstacle course, you are focused on each of the obstacles that stand between you and the finish line. You can measure up the hurdles and develop a game plan about how to tackle them. If you don’t make it the first time, you can start over and attempt again, adjusting your technique until you find what works. These skills of logical reasoning, problem solving, adaptability, and resilience that you use to take on the obstacle course directly translate to life and your ability to face challenges. When you’ve developed the ability to assess and attempt again, you can easily tackle life’s challenges and roll with them.

Confidence Booster

Many times in life, we are our own worst critics. We put ourselves down and sell ourselves short because we do not recognize the awesomeness inside ourselves. We see people who are bigger, stronger, taller, funnier, smarter, richer, and more capable than we are and we compare ourselves, coming up short everytime. This leaves us with a feeling of inadequacy and insecurity. Really, all we need is the opportunity to prove to ourselves how great and capable we really are! Obstacle courses can be the perfect venue for this. Sure, the first time you attempt to run a course, you may stumble, there may be an obstacle you can’t figure out, maybe you complete it much slower than you hoped, and maybe you can’t even complete it on your first attempt, and that’s even better! Because trying until you succeed on a course you can predict will prove to you that you are capable of anything that you put your mind to., When a hurdle comes up in life, you can reflect on that thought, take a breath, and know confidently that you can and will get through it!

Active Health

It should come as no surprise that exercise offers many health benefits. You have heard all of the recommendations to get in the gym and watch what you eat and make your life a little better through physical exercise, but who wants to spend hours in the gym lifting up heavy things and putting them back down repeatedly? It’s true, that is enjoyable for some people, but for most people, we want to enjoy our workouts. The great thing about obstacle courses is that they are designed to be physically and mentally challenging. So, as you navigate your way through the course, you get a functional, active workout without counting reps or logging miles! Additionally, if you find yourself struggling to complete an obstacle because of a physical shortcoming — you can’t get up a tall wall because you lack the upper body strength — it could be a good reason to put in some reps at the gym to tackle that obstacle!

Quality of Life

Many people have found strength in the simple “because they told me I couldn’t.” Physical challenges such as losing a limb or being diagnosed with a connective tissue disorder such as Ehlers-Danlos syndrome have been reasons for some hopeful athletes to begin their training. For these people, it is not completing the obstacle course that is the motivation for training, but attempting the obstacle course is the incentive for overcoming their physical handicap and gives purpose beyond simply surviving, despite their physician’s sentence. For many people faced with physical challenges, obstacle courses take on a whole different meaning and offer hope in the face of adversity. You don’t have to have a physical handicap to gain the same benefit and get a little more out of life when you knock down challenges.

If you love taking on challenges or dream of one day being an American Ninja Warrior walk-on, you will love our Ninja Warrior obstacle course at Rebounderz of Jacksonville. Our courses feature various ability courses adjusted to fit even the smallest of contenders. Constructed of foam and durable padding, you can tackle all of the challenges and get up to try again should you not make it on your first attempt. If you are interested in taking on one of our courses, check us out online or stop by and give it your best shot today!

Jumping Benefits for Seniors https://www.rebounderz.com/jumping-benefits-for-seniors/ https://www.rebounderz.com/jumping-benefits-for-seniors/#respond Thu, 28 Jun 2018 14:39:01 +0000 https://rebounderz.wpengine.com/?p=5916 Continue reading Jumping Benefits for Seniors]]> Although typically frequented by children, trampoline parks have amazing benefits for children of ALL ages! Even seniors can find the benefits and enjoyment of spending some time rebounding. Here are just a few benefits of trampoline jumping for seniors.

Improves Heart Health

The number one cause of death in the United States has been cardiac arrest caused by heart disease for over a decade. While this is not a unique phenomenon to seniors, chances of cardiac problems increase as we age. What this means for people of all ages is that they need to take care of their hearts by eating healthy and getting plenty of cardiovascular exercises. The human heart is an incredible structure that is able to develop new blood vessels to reroute around failing ones to improve function. The more your heart is worked, the better it becomes at this. Cardio activity like jumping on a trampoline helps to get the blood pumping all throughout the body which helps prevent clots, opens up vessels, and works your heart — all of which help to prevent sudden cardiac death.

Helps Build Strong Bones

A common problem that accompanies aging, especially in postmenopausal women, is bone density loss that attributes to frailty and fractures, that tends to leave most people fearing to do anything that may cause them to fall. Weight-bearing, impact exercises such as running and jumping helps to build bone density and strength. Activities such as trampoline bouncing are great for strengthening bones because of the elastic surface that helps soften the impact. Building bone density also promotes red blood cell production (because red blood cells are created in the bones!), which helps promote overall circulation and perfusion.

Improves Outlook on Life

A positive outlook on life has been proven to help people sleep better and live longer. Happiness has been linked to a strong immune system, so it can be said that happy people don’t get sick as often as others. Engaging in activities that make you feel young and invigorated creates more happy hormones that can lead to improved overall health and a sense of wellbeing. We think that trampoline rebounding is a great way to boost your mood — have you ever seen someone frowning on a trampoline?

Builds Strong Muscles

Activities such as trampoline jumping help to improve muscular strength. Improving muscle strength doesn’t just help moving and daily activities easier, but strong muscles can help support your bones and joints to help reduce pain and potential for injury. Building muscles strength also helps to make normal activities such as walking and sitting more comfortable and helps to improve your quality of sleep.

At Rebounderz, we are passionate about sharing the fun with kids from toddlers to 100+ because we know the value of healthy fun. If you are an aging senior and have never experienced a trampoline park, we encourage you to come out to Rebounderz of Jacksonville to try it out, we are confident you’ll feel like a kid again and leave feeling better than you did when you arrived! Contact us for more information or stop on in to check out the bounce!

Local rec centers and mom social groups may have ideas specific to your area, but here are some ideas you may not have considered yet.

Toddler Yoga

Mamaste! Don’t find mindfulness and peace alone, offer your little one the benefits of yoga. The majority of people recognize the benefits of yoga for the mind, body, and the soul. However, these benefits are not exclusive to adults seeking to find purpose in life. Yoga teaches patient reflection, body and breathing control, and improves flexibility and strength. Spending time doing yoga with your little one will help you balance exercise and bonding and will help your little one develop, physically and mentally. Find a yoga studio that offers mommy and me yoga in your area, or roll out the mats and get to work at home! If your youngster is old enough to strike their own poses, show them the moves and let them copy your movements. This is also an opportunity to guide them in mindful reflection. If your kiddo is too young to understand, modify your movements to include them in your poses, not unlike goat yoga!

Splish Splash

Water aerobics is a fun workout for people of all ages! Take the plunge and hop in the pool for some mommy and me water aerobics. Many local pools and rec centers offer mommy and me classes to welcome your efforts and the abilities of your child. If your child is old enough to swim, let them participate next to you, independently. This will allow both of you to get a great workout and instill confidence in your child. If your little one is too young to swim, safely, on their own, incorporate them into your moves for a little extra workout for you! Swimming is a great opportunity to instill safety and trust between you and your child and well as it is an opportunity to take advantage of buoyancy while carrying them around!

Bounce Around

If you haven’t been to a trampoline park recently, now is the time to go! Many indoor trampoline parks offer a toddler or kid area that is safe for even that littlest of jumpers. At Rebounderz of Jacksonville trampoline park, we offer toddler bounce time and free admission for the accompanying adult! Trampoline rebounding is an excellent source of cardiovascular exercise that also helps develop muscles and increases flexibility and agility. For your toddler, jumping on a trampoline can help develop coordination and balance that will launch them forward in their physical development.

Active exercise is good for both you and your toddler. While chasing around a little one may feel like a workout, seeking out a mommy and me workout to share with your little one has many benefits including showing your child the importance of exercise. Benefits to you, aside from the workout, are engaging in different activities that can help expand your social group while exhausting your child for a more peaceful afternoon at home! For more ideas or a schedule of mommy and me classes, contact us at Rebounderz Extreme Fun Zone today!

How Trampolining Helps Develop Resilience https://www.rebounderz.com/how-trampolining-helps-develop-resilience/ https://www.rebounderz.com/how-trampolining-helps-develop-resilience/#respond Sun, 01 Apr 2018 17:29:14 +0000 https://rebounderz.wpengine.com/?p=5516 Continue reading How Trampolining Helps Develop Resilience]]> While the answer may be painfully obvious, trampolining helps develop an ability to bounce back. Resilience is the ability to bounce back in life, whether from illness or injury or overcoming an obstacle. Jumping on a trampoline is probably one of the best literal and metaphorical examples of resilience. In this article, we will explain exactly how regular trampolining can help develop resilience, at any age.

What is Resilience?

The dictionary defines resilience as the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties —the ability to bounce back. Resilience is a toughness that allows some people to be knocked down and rebound stronger than ever rather than letting failure overcome and drain them.

So, how do you teach resilience?

It would be cruel to push your child over and let them continue to get up to teach them a lesson about overcoming being knocked down in life. You could wait and take each failure or challenge as an opportunity to teach about resilience. Or, what we think is a better option, is to encourage a positive outlook and provide opportunities to bounce back. Of course, we mean literal bounce-back such as what happens when you jump on a trampoline.

How Trampolining Helps Develop Resilience

It encourages confidence

When you do any physical activity, it helps to develop a multitude of things including strength, coordination, logical reasoning, and endurance. It also helps to show, or prove, what you are capable of. Many of us will be awkward and clumsy the first time we try a physical feat for the first time —walking, dancing, throwing a ball— but, with repetition and practice, our skills improve, as does our confidence in ourselves. Trampolining is no different, it is a physical activity that provides the opportunity to learn new things. The beauty of trampolines is the resilient surface that pops a jumper back up, even if they didn’t land the jump just right. A trampoline offers a little more forgiveness than other sports and encourages jumpers to try again and again.

It regulates hormone response

Regular exercise of any kind promotes the natural release of endorphins, the “happy hormone.” Endorphins help people to have a more positive outlook on life in general, which is important when faced with challenges or obstacles. Exercise also helps to keep the stress hormone, cortisol, at bay. Decreasing the amount of cortisol in your system can help numb the hormonal response to sudden psychological stress, like a failure or sudden deviation from a plan. Regulating these hormones can help improve sleep and decrease anxiety, both of which are contributing factors to resilience.

It boosts your immune system

Trampolining is an excellent way to promote immune function! One thing that really does a number on your immune system is stress. As we talked about in the previous section, exercise helps to reduce stress hormones and increase happy hormones. In addition, trampolining is an incredibly fun way to exercise, which helps increase the jumper’s mood and energy through laughing and positive vibes. Decreasing stress and improving mood are not the only immune boosters in trampolining, though! The continual movement trampolining causes increases blood circulation throughout the body, including to the lymphatic system, which stimulates the immune system and its functions. Trampolining biologically boosts your immune system!

Provides the bounce when you can’t find your own

Have you ever seen someone crying while jumping on a trampoline? Or laying perfectly still on one? If you have, that was an extremely rare experience. Trampolining is a fun activity that makes it nearly impossible to not smile. We aren’t entirely sure if it is the pure joy of completely letting go and releasing your inner child or the mock feeling of flying, but trampolining is scientifically proven (okay, maybe not, but pretty close) to improve your mood, even when you are down and resisting a smile. Because of the elastic surface on the trampoline, it is difficult to lay still on one. At times when your heart isn’t into launching into another jump, the trampoline surface provides the bounce for you, even when you are finding it difficult to find your own. These qualities provide tools for your resilience toolbox to use when you encounter struggles in life.

Trampolining helps develop physical and mental toughness and is the ultimate metaphor for resilience. To help instill resilience in your child or to develop your own resilience, visit your local trampoline park today! If you are looking for a trampoline park in Jacksonville, Florida, come check out Rebounderz Extreme Fun Zone now!

Extreme Trampoline Moves https://www.rebounderz.com/extreme-trampoline-moves/ https://www.rebounderz.com/extreme-trampoline-moves/#respond Wed, 21 Mar 2018 01:26:41 +0000 https://rebounderz.wpengine.com/?p=5338 Continue reading Extreme Trampoline Moves]]> Here, at Rebounderz Extreme Fun Zone, we carry our name with pride as a place where kids of all ages can come and have some extreme fun! Many of our locations offer many exciting attractions to compliment the main attraction, which is our trampoline park. Our trampoline parks offer extreme fun because, unlike your backyard trampoline, our trampoline arenas are covered in giant bouncy trampolines that allow you to do some of the most extreme trampoline moves that you shouldn’t dare try in your backyard. Here are some extreme trampoline moves for you to try at your next visit to Rebounderz. Be warned, all of these moves are considered advanced and should not be attempted without proper safety mechanisms in place.

Double Front Flip

With enough air, almost anyone can land a front flip on a trampoline. However, it takes some skill, practice, and height to land the double front flip. To perform this extreme trampoline trick, you must get enough air height that you can tuck your body, perform two consecutive front flips, and land on your feet. This move requires you to commit fully to avoid injury and to launch forward a little bit to propel yourself into the double spin. Once you’ve made the second rotation, open your stance to nail the landing,

Misty 720

This is a popular trick for gymnasts and looks really cool. This trick involves twisting your body to the side, rather than tucking into a flip. This trick requires you to start by getting some considerable air. Once you are in the air, you’ll initiate the trick by flailing back with your back parallel to the trampoline and then throwing your right arm toward your left toe. Look at the left shoulder and twist your entire body toward your left toe. You should make two complete rotations, or rotate 720 degrees.

Side Flip

The side flip is like a cartwheel, in the air. To execute this trick, simply jump until you have enough air to make a flip. Once in the air, rotate your body into a sideways flip by flinging your shoulder on one side toward the foot on the same side. Make your sideways flip in the air and then open up for the landing. If you are not able to make the landing, this trick has the potential to hurt your neck, if you have time to react, try to thrust yourself so that you land on your back or shoulder, rather than your head.

Extreme trampoline moves look as cool as they sound and are sure to impress your friends. Before attempting any advanced trick, make sure that you are comfortable and proficient with some basic tricks, as this will help you have better control over your body in the air and landing, as well as give you a sense of where you are in relation to the trampoline surface. If you need a place to practice, and are looking for a trampoline park in Jacksonville, stop by Rebounderz Extreme Fun Zone!

Skills that Active Play Teaches Kids https://www.rebounderz.com/5336-2/ https://www.rebounderz.com/5336-2/#respond Wed, 14 Mar 2018 01:19:29 +0000 https://rebounderz.wpengine.com/?p=5336 Continue reading Skills that Active Play Teaches Kids]]> Active play, which includes anything that gets your child doing something, is important for the healthy growth and development of children. It helps them develop, physically, with strong bones and muscles. Active play also helps to develop children mentally by providing a way to explore themselves and their role in the world around them. In this article, we will discuss the ways that active play helps to develop skills that will be useful for the duration of your child’s life. When these skills are developed at a young age, it helps to produce healthier children and more successful adults.

Critical Thinking and Logic

Active play helps a child to think outside the box to explore whatever it is that they are playing with and how it functions in the world around them. As is the case with navigating an obstacle, putting something together, or making something work the child must explore the activity and make several attempts before getting it right. If something, like an obstacle course, requires a specific sequence and one task is dependent on the previous one, it helps the child realize that they must perform step sequentially and they will have to think through what they are doing before they do it, rather than mindlessly perform tasks. This helps throughout life, to help the child be more logical and to relate information to solve complex problems.

Cooperation and Teamwork

Active play with other children, especially in the form of team games, helps a child to develop the skills of coordination and teamwork. To be successful in team games or as a part of a group, team members must work together toward a common goal and be respectful of each other. Children will learn very quickly that if they are not contributing positively, whether not at all or being a negative member, they will be picked last or left without a voice. Being a part of a group or team helps to develop camaraderie and a sense of belonging that encourages teamwork. These skills are useful throughout life in relationships, school, and in jobs as an adult.

Self-Esteem

Through active play, children discover what they are capable of. Proving to themselves that they are stronger or smarter than they thought helps to build a positive self-image. Positive feedback from parents, peers, teachers, or coaches helps to encourage children to try again, even if they fail. This helps children develop a positive outlook on life and creates a positive self-image. Self-esteem is a very valuable skill in life that will help steer them away from trouble and down a path of success.

Active play has many benefits for children of all ages. Those who do not engage in active play often have a hard time learning new skills and coping with challenges. Active play can include anything that requires the child to “do,” including hands-on creativity, role-playing, or exercise. Help your child grow and develop in a healthy way by encouraging active play everyday! If you are looking for a great way to get your child moving, check out Rebounderz Trampoline Park today!

How to Keep Your Kids Active in the Winter https://www.rebounderz.com/5304-2/ https://www.rebounderz.com/5304-2/#respond Wed, 07 Mar 2018 15:52:28 +0000 https://rebounderz.wpengine.com/?p=5304 Continue reading How to Keep Your Kids Active in the Winter]]> In a digital era where people spend most of their time engaged by a screen, it can be increasingly difficult to keep your kids active. The battle becomes even harder in the winter when kids are less likely to be comfortable spending time outside. Don’t let your kids hibernate this winter; exercise and physical activity are important to maintain all year round! Here are some ideas about how to keep your kids active through the winter.

Rec Center Classes

Check out your local recreation center to see what classes they offer throughout the winter. Classes can range from dancing lessons to karate or basketball. When kids are enrolled in classes, it helps widen their social network beyond their family and classmates and gives them a structured schedule to look forward to. When your child tries out a variety of active classes, it helps them to remain active as well as teaches them new skills that don’t require sitting in front of a screen, which is important in sustaining long-term physical activity.

Trampoline Park

Although your backyard trampoline may be covered with a thick blanket of snow, you can take your kids to a trampoline park near you to spend the day rebounding away! Trampoline jumping is an incredibly efficient workout and a fun way to stay active. Most trampoline parks offer family discounts and benefits for being repeat guests. Get your kids out of the house and into a trampoline park!

Snow Day

If your local winter is plagued with snow, use it as an excuse to go outside and have a snow day! Show your kids how to use the snow to remain active. You can make snow angels, build a snowman, go sledding, or go snowshoeing around your house. For a day out, you can go skiing or snowboarding for an active day of snow play. Although the cold may keep your family inside more during the winter, it shouldn’t keep you inside all the time!

Family Game Night

Try a new, active, twist on the traditional family game night while team building with your loved ones and play a team sport! Head to the rec center or gym to play a friendly game of basketball, and challenge your neighbor’s family if you want! If you have the gear, host a street-hockey game or a football game out front of your house. Getting your family up and playing sports helps with your kid’s confidence and creates a stronger family bond, not to mention you can all have fun getting your exercise in and turning off the screens!

Winter is always a little harder to get your children to be active, simply because it is not as comfortable to be outside. However, with a little effort, you can help ensure that you and your kids stay active this (and every) winter. Teach your kids to be active while they are young to set them up for success when they are older. Staying active helps stimulate brain development and reduces childhood disease significantly. Don’t rely on recess or gym. Having children lets you have an excuse — not like you need one — to let out your inner child and participate in activities from your youth. For a trampoline park near you, check out Rebounderz today!

However, any parent knows there are always celebrations and parties with treats – one classmate after the other’s birthday party, soccer team win, scout meeting, a holiday, a cousin’s graduation, dances, the list goes on and on. The point is, if we took every celebration as an excuse to eat unhealthily and allow our children to eat unhealthy snacks as well, there would be very few opportunities to eat healthy. At Rebounderz of Jacksonville, we believe that healthy eating can be as fun as exercise, you just have to make it fun, appealing, and tasty! Here, we have gathered up a few deliciously healthy snacks to share at your kid’s birthday party.

Ants on a Log/Tire

These tasty, classic treats are as tasty as they are delicious! Clean and cut celery stalks into three to four-inch pieces. Slather with nut butter of your choice (we recommend peanut or almond) and place some dried raisins along the sticky stalk. For a twist on this snack, core and slice apples into rings. Spread honey or Nutella on the apple rings and top with raisins or dried cranberries as ants.

Chia Banana Sushi

This is a super simple, super healthy, delicious treat that looks great on a platter. Slice bananas into sushi-thick slices. Dip half of the edge into honey or Nutella (alternate for variety), and then dip into chia seeds. Let the “rolls” sit in the refrigerator for an hour and serve.

Fruit Kabobs

This treat is super simple and what makes it delicious is the fun of eating it! Use toothpicks as skewers to string several pieces of bite-sized fruit. To add in something sweet, you can add a small marshmallow here and there or roll some of the fruit in Nutella before adding it to the mix. You can use any fruit for your kabobs, if they include fruit that browns once cut, simply squirt a little lemon or lime juice on your kabobs before letting them sit.

Parmesan Zucchini Fries

A great way to get kids and parents alike to enjoy eating their vegetables is to not serve them as vegetables! These parmesan zucchini fries are easy to make and delicious. Simply cut your zucchini into chunky strips, coat with a very thin layer of olive oil and roll in a mix of parmesan cheese and basil. Bake until golden brown, serve.

Just because you host your kid’s birthday party, doesn’t mean you have to serve unhealthy snacks and treats for your guests. There are many healthy snack ideas that are as fun and healthy as they are scrumptious. Check out a few recipes and Pinterest suggestions before surrendering to the baked good gods. In just a few days, the world will watch as the opening ceremonies of the greatest sports competition kicks off two weeks of the best athletes in the world showcasing their skills and bringing medals and honor to their home countries. If you have dreams of one-day being a professional athlete in your sport, relentlessly chase that dream! Rebounderz Trampoline Park is here to support your dreams of going pro and can offer some great training for many professional sports. Here are just a few examples of sports that you can train for at a trampoline park.

Gymnastics

Another sport full of flips, twists, and precision air movement is gymnastics. Although trampolining may not help prepare for your gymnastics tumbling floor routine, the balance beam, or the bars, trampolining is a great way to allow gymnasts to practice jumps and flips on a more forgiving surface than the floor. Trampolining is also an excellent way to learn body awareness and practice the art of controlling every part of your body and where it will land. Trampolining also helps athletes become more comfortable with airtime, which comes in handy on the rings and un/parallel bars.

Diving

Diving is the sport most similar to trampolining, which makes trampolining and excellent cross-training workout for divers. There are significant differences, of course, such as the lack of water and that the diver is not jumping down into their landing area and must, instead, land upright. The trampoline is an excellent way to allow drivers to practice new flips and twists over and over again prior to bounding off of a diving board. The time saved staying on one surface as opposed to swimming to exit the pool, walking to the diving board, and climbing the stairs, allows divers to make three to four attempts on the same move on a trampoline as they would in the pool.

Snowboarding

Snowboarding and other boarded sports with aerial tricks can benefit from trampoline time. Similar to diving, these sports spend a lot of time in the air, but getting to the top of a half pipe from the bottom often takes more time than the run itself. Turning to a trampoline can provide the athlete with the opportunity to practice their routine more in less time. Many sports that involve a board, such as skateboarding, water skiing, and surfing, have created modified boards that can be used on a trampoline to help maximize training time. Most of the professional rating points for these athletes come from flips and landing them with precision, which a trampoline can help with.

Trampolining!

Okay, so that one was a little obvious! Not many people are aware that as of 2012, trampolining was added to the summer Olympics sports event roster! Trampolining is a sport that requires a lot of endurance and technical skill to precisely land jumps and perform in-air acrobatics that earns athletes rating points. The professional size trampoline is 10 feet by 17 feet, much larger than any backyard trampoline. To find large enough trampolines in an area that is safe enough to practice dramatic flips and twists, head to your nearest Rebounderz trampoline park.

If you or your little ones have dreams of becoming a professional athlete, keep training, keep trying, and never stop dreaming. If you need more practice than you can get in the gym or in your specific sports training arena, come to Rebounderz Trampoline Park. Keeping in shape and practicing your flips, even in the offseason, is what will set you apart from your competitors. Rebounderz of Jacksonville has been supporting the dreams of future professional athletes since it opened its doors. Come check out our facility today!

Benefits of Trampoline Jumping as Cross Training https://www.rebounderz.com/benefits-trampoline-jumping-cross-training/ https://www.rebounderz.com/benefits-trampoline-jumping-cross-training/#respond Wed, 07 Feb 2018 15:26:43 +0000 https://rebounderz.wpengine.com/?p=5152 Continue reading Benefits of Trampoline Jumping as Cross Training]]> Any elite athlete in any sport will tell you about the benefits cross-training to improve your craft. When you work cross training into your training routine, you work your body in a different way than you are used to which allows you to give some of your primary muscles a break and build other skills. Many runners find cycling an enjoyable cross-training activity while swimming and trampoline jumping are full-body alternatives to aid weight lifting efforts. At Rebounderz Trampoline Park we know the value of trampoline rebounding as more than just fun. Here are just a few of the reasons you should consider trampoline jumping as a serious cross training opportunity.

It increases muscular strength.

If you have ever done any cardio or high-intensity training, you already know that jumps are used as the perfect total-body exercise — think burpees. When you jump on a trampoline rather than a hard floor, you do not get the benefit of a pause in exertion. On an elastic trampoline, you are vaulted back into the air right away. The muscular benefit in your legs, back, glutes, and abs cannot be understated. If you do more than just jump, such as attempt flips and other trampoline games, you have the potential for a great full body workout.

It improves your cardiovascular endurance.

Jumping continuously is an intense cardiovascular workout — think about jump roping. So much so that 10 minutes of trampoline jumping is the cardiovascular equivalent of running for 30 minutes! Imagine the workout you could get in an hour of playful trampoline rebounding! Trampoline jumping gets your blood pumping on your very first leap. Because of the elastic surface, the springing is difficult to stop and so you just keep going. This continuous rebounding ensures that your heart rate stays high your entire workout.

It improves coordination and balance.

Trampoline rebounding requires a lot of balance and coordination to remain upright and continue to jump. If you have issues with balance and coordination, it can make any sport difficult. The trampoline surface is made of an elastic material and is constantly moving so you must be hyper-aware of your center of gravity as you land. You must be mindful of where and how your feet are landing and react quickly. Trampoline rebounding helps improve reaction time which will help improve any sport.

It helps with flexibility.

Jumping helps to strengthen and lengthen muscles, which aids in flexibility. Jumping continuously helps to loosen up muscles and relax the mind which helps the body bend more readily. Trampoline jumping is particularly helpful to the flexibility of weightlifters and runners who do the same motions repetitively.

Many serious athletes know the value of cross training to improve their craft and reduce injuries. While not many people recognize trampoline jumping as a true sport, it has been an Olympic sport since 2000. Just as swimming and yoga have been useful, trampoline rebounding should be added to your training plan. If you are looking for a trampoline park to cross train in, come on down to Rebounderz Extreme Fun Center in Jacksonville and get your cross training on!
