Florida is a very child-friendly state. When you think about it, Florida has more amusement parks, play areas, and other fun activities for kids. With this in mind, if you are ever wondering what activities your child can participate in, this blog may come in handy.
In this blog, we will go over some of the fun activities you can bring your child to in and around Apopka, Florida. Let the playtime begin!

Princesses and Princes: Indoor Play Center

This cute little play area, located just a bit outside of Apopka, in Ocoee, is ideal for tikes. This play area has everything your little one would love to play with. At Princesses and Princes, your toddler can play like royalty and be surrounded by incredible toys. Inside this play area is a large, detailed castle playhouse and a dress up studio. This means that your little one can not only pretend to be a royal, but dress like one too!
This play area is definitely suited for younger customers, so if your child is a bit older, they will not enjoy this area. For example, the play area features very basic stimulating toys, such as train, toddler shapes matching games, and much more. So, if you have an older child, you may want to opt for another play area.

Planet Obstacle

Planet Obstacle is an incredible obstacle park located in Lake Mary, Florida. At this obstacle park, your child can use rock climbing walls, play bumper cars, and even a zip line. If you are looking for a play area to entertain your child for an afternoon, this place is ideal. However, though Planet Obstacle can be extremely fun, it is definitely for older children. Some of the obstacles and even the bumper cars are pretty advanced. If you have a younger child between the ages of five and eight, another play park might be better suited for you.

Lucky Monkey 4 Kids

Lucky Monkey is a play park that offers a variety of slides and a playhouse. Located in Altamonte Springs, Florida, this play park is smaller and offers a more intimate play experience. Here, your child will be able to use the playhouse and climb and slide as they please! Much like Princesses and Princes, this play area is definitely suited for younger children. If you have older children, they may grow bored easily, as the play park has a few slides and a trampoline area.

Rebounderz of Apopka

Rebounderz of Apopka offers so much for all ages, however, older children will definitely appreciate our park more than toddlers. At our indoor play park, we offer many different attractions, all of which can offer you optimal levels of fun.

Below are some of the attractions we offer at our Apopka location!

In-The-Air Dodgeball: Catch some air and dodge to stay in the game. Our In-The-Air Dodgeball court offers a cool twist to your traditional dodgeball game you remember from gym class. Use our trampoline court and jump and dodge the afternoon away!

Foam Pit: Our foam pit allows you to jump into a squishy oasis. Let yourself fall into a cushioned pit and swim through countless foam cubes to “dry land!”

Open Jump Area: Our trampoline arena allows you to jump at maximum heights and jump from trampoline to trampoline. Our trampolines are a great place to catch some air and ever try out some neat tricks.

Arcade: Our arcade gives your child access to the latest games and activities. If your child is looking for a truly awesome arcade experience, our arcade is ideal. Our arcade is not only newly installed, but features new and classic games, such as air hockey, skeeball, and so much more!!

Basketball Slam: Our Basketball Slam is just like our dodgeball court, in that, we offer a bouncy twist to physical activities. Instead of playing basketball on a firm court, our court is played on a full sized trampoline! Stop by and slam a basketball, today!

The Importance of Patience With Children https://www.rebounderz.com/the-importance-of-patience-with-children/ https://www.rebounderz.com/the-importance-of-patience-with-children/#respond Mon, 03 Dec 2018 21:46:48 +0000 https://rebounderz.wpengine.com/?p=6802 Continue reading The Importance of Patience With Children]]>

Being Patient With a Child

Patience is almost like a scarce commodity; it can be difficult to receive it and difficult to keep it. Patience requires us to step back from ourselves and try to understand others and their points of view. As a parent, patience is necessary to ensure that you and your child have effective communication at all times. In this blog, we are going to discuss the importance of patience and good communication in a parent-child relationship. Hopefully, by reading this blog, you can be more confident in how you handle situations and discuss issues with your child.

Patience is about understanding others.

Patience requires parents to detach themselves from their needs. This means that if your child is crying, whining, or even screaming, it is important that you detach yourself from your own needs. Your needs in this situation would be to have your child stop crying, calm down, and to stop making a scene. However, just because you want your child to behave, doesn’t mean that that will happen. Typically, if a child is acting out, they believe that making an auditory or even physical reaction (hitting, kicking, or throwing things) is the way to get your attention. Of course, a temper tantrum is never the right way to communicate with each other, so if your child begins to make a scene, it is important that you refuse the situation immediately.
The first way to address a temper tantrum is to understand why your child is upset. For the most part, especially with young children, the reason can be simple and easily identified. For instance, most children will be upset that they are not getting something they want or even attention. Once you understand why your child is upset, rather than purely addressing the situation by how it affects you as a parent, the faster you will be able to address the situation.

Patience requires you to communicate without fear.

When a child gets upset, a parent can easily panic and look around in fear. When a child is having a tantrum, bystanders can easily get annoyed and pass judgmental looks. It is important that you disregard what others think about you. Trust that you are a good parent by addressing your own situation, rather than reflecting on what others think about your parenting skills.
By letting go of who you are perceived, you are better able to address why your child is upset. Being patient with your child is about being able to communicate with them without being fearful about what others think. Telling your child to stop embarrassing you, can only make them grow up with emotions of shame or guilt whenever they openly express their feelings. This can lead to issues in their lives regarding their ability to be open with others, to express themselves, and even how they communicate with you in the future. After all, no one wants to feel like an embarrassment to their parents!

Patience allows your child to learn valuable lessons.

When you become a parent, your only goal is to raise and nurture a good child. You do this, in the hopes that one day they will grow up to be a great person. However, no one great became that way by being rotten, spoiled, mean, and selfish. As a parent, it is important that you adjust your child’s mindset and attitude before they believe that acting naughtily is the best way to succeed in life. Being patient and addressing their tantrums is the best way to ensure that your child learns valuable lessons in life.

At Rebounderz, we have seen time and time again, how children can get upset when playtime is over. Children want to play longer and don’t want the fun to end. Being upset when the fun is over is natural and completely normal. However, when a child gets upset, panic can set in for a parent. Tears and wails can make parents upset and punish their children. Instead of being forceful with your child, a dose of patience might be what they need. So, instead of shouting at them to stop crying, perhaps using the opportunity to provide them with a lesson is important. Instead of simply communicating that the fun is over, maybe stating that the fun is over, but it doesn’t mean that it is over forever.

Get on their level and show that you are speaking to them fairly.

If your child is crying, it may be good to meet them at their height level. By standing over them with disapproving words and looks, they can get the impression that you are overbearing and depriving them of something they deserve. By kneeling on their level, you are subconsciously letting them know that you can talk to them “on the same level.” Though you may not be equals, as one person is responsible of the other, talking to them equally and fairly may give them the impression that you aren’t taking something (playtime) away just to be cruel.

Letting your child cry can be healthy for them.

Sometimes, letting your child cry can be the best thing for them. For example, you may remember a time when you were so upset and mentally exhausted that you just wanted to cry, children are no exception. Though they may not have the maturity to understand quite why they are so upset, crying is the best way to mentally and emotionally sort through their scramble of emotions. Though listening to them shriek and wail isn’t the best sound, allowing them to cry out what they are feeling can be healthy. Allowing your child to cry openly and without punishment, can also teach them that crying isn’t something to be ashamed of. Crying can be an emotional release in many ways. It is important, however, to make sure to remove your child from the thing they are crying about and have them sulk in a private place. For many parents, this can be considered a “timeout.” A timeout can be set in your child’s room or in their car seat. It is important to be present for when they are crying and keep a close watch. Once they have stopped crying you can come in and give them a calm and reasonable chat about why they were upset and why they were removed from the situation.

Halloween is More Fun With Bounce in Your Step

Trampoline parks are a great place to jump and play with your kids. For one, it is a safe place for you and your child to jump wildly into the air! Not very many places allow you to run, jump, flip, and somersault all over the place. But at Rebounderz, that is what our space is for! Here, you can get your healthy dose of aerobics and fun in one place!

Anticipation of Halloween

Tomorrow is Halloween, which means just two things. One, your child probably has an amazing costume that they have been dying to wear. So much so, that they probably could not help their curiosity and decided to wear it multiple times before Halloween night. Second, it also means that your kids, as well as any neighborhood children, are going to be undergoing a sugar-high from all of their holiday treats. So, what is the best way to address both of these aspects of the holiday? Rebounderz of Apopka, Florida!

Make Halloween Costumes More Fun

At Rebounderz, your little one can let their imagination run wild! Here, we encourage creative and imaginative thought, which is why our indoor trampoline park is ideal during Halloween. During Halloween, you and yous kids dress up like characters and pretend to be them. At Rebounderz, we only amplify this imagination by providing trampolines, foam pits, and obstacle courses. Let your child’s imagination be free and use the inspiration of their costumes.

Which Costumes You Can Enhance

These are some of the Halloween costumes that Rebounderz can help make more realistic for your child.

Astronauts: At Rebounderz, our trampoline arena can make your child feel like a real-life astronaut! The way the trampoline can feel under their feet can make them pretend like they are walking on the moon.

Zombies: Our foam pit is perfect for the little zombie in your life. In our pit, they can jump in and crawl their way out of it like they are coming out of their grave. Spooky!

Basketball Superstars: Our Basketball Slam court is designed to make your little one feel six feet tall. On our trampoline basketball court, your kids can jump, dodge, and slam like a basketball pro!

Soldiers: In our obstacle course, your child can pretend they are a special operative or a soldier. Your child can dodge the components of our obstacle course like a trained professional.

Ninjas: Dressing for a ninja for Halloween can be fun! Especially in our obstacle course and on our trampoline area. Dressed as a ninja, your child can pretend they are going through our obstacle course with expert precision. And, on our trampoline arena, they can jump extreme heights and practice their special ninja moves.

Superheroes: Every good Halloween season needs a superhero! If your little one is dressed as a superhero, Rebounderz can help them imagine their powers. At our trampoline arena, your child can experience what is like to “super jump” and go through our obstacle course with “super speed.”

Our trampoline arena can make your child feel like they are their costume character. This is just one simple way Rebounderz is able to encourage childhood imagination. After all, Halloween is about being able to pretend and imagine yourself as something else!

Helping With the Sugar Rush

As stated, the second definite outcome of Halloween is the number of children who will be hopped up on sugar. To help with this sugar overload, Rebounderz offers many different attractions to help wear out your kid. No parent wants to stay up all night because their kid can’t sleep. Instead, bring your child to Rebounderz where they can jump and play for hours. Here, they can get all their energy out so they will be tired enough to get a good night’s rest.

Rebounderz of Apopka, FL

At Rebounderz, we can help you, the parent, get through Halloween. More importantly, however, Rebounderz offer you and your child a great way to celebrate the holiday. Instead of staying home and eating more candy than you need to, bring your child to Rebounderz. Together, you both can enjoy jumping and playing on trampolines in order to pretend and burn your candy calories! Join us at Rebounderz today!

Learning to Share at an Indoor Trampoline Park

There is a saying, “sharing is caring.” This is largely true, as sharing with others is a valuable lesson that can help you throughout your life. Sharing with others is a form of selflessness that everyone must learn in their lives in order to build lasting relationships. Typically, you want to teach your children at a young age the importance of sharing and giving to others. Humankind is naturally selfish, which means that this lesson can be difficult to teach children. Especially, when you find out that the first words your child learns, aside from “mama” and dada”, is the word “mine.”
As a species, we are naturally selfish, but in this blog, we will teach you five easy ways to teach your child to share with others.

Trampoline Parks Teaching Children

It sounds odd that an indoor trampoline park would be the perfect setting to teach your child to share, but it is true! At Rebounderz of Apopka, you can easily teach your child valuable skills that will follow them throughout their life.

Tip 1: Start Teaching Them Young

You can’t teach an old dog new tricks. When people are used to behaving a certain way, it can be difficult to break certain habits. For children, learning new things is second nature, which means that lessons can be interpreted quickly and stored into memory, faster. If you want to have a selfless child, you should start teaching them lessons of sharing very early on.

One of the best ways to teach your child the lesson of sharing is by bouncing on a trampoline with them. You should do this by taking turns bouncing on the trampoline and by audibly saying, “my turn, your turn.” This will indicate to your child that one person goes after the other in order to enjoy the trampoline. Taking turns is the very first step to learning how to share. By showing your child how to pause from something to let someone else enjoy it, they will learn how to share their time and enjoyment.

Tip 2: Be a Role Model

Your child will learn directly from you. Young children idolize their parents and learn from them. If you are not an avid sharer, you should learn to do so for the sake of your child. You should be vigilant to audibly and visibly show your child that you share with others, just as you expect them to. Most children won’t do something unless they see their parent display that same behavior at least twice. Of course, if you are a naturally selfish person, even displaying moments of sharing won’t change your child’s behavior completely.
It is important to be a role model for your child, always showing how they should act. Verbal cues, audible praises, and rewards are all great motivators to improve your child’s behavior and teach them valuable lessons.

Tip 3: Give Reasons to Share

Most of the time children won’t share because they are afraid of losing their privileges, such as food, candy, and play time. If you have multiple children, teaching your children the lesson of sharing can be difficult. For instance, older children will often prey on the smaller children by eating their food, stealing their toys, and teasing them. Because of these extra challenges, as a parent, it is your job to ensure that all of your children understand the meaning of sharing. Younger children may have a harder time trusting and sharing, while older children might have more difficulty learning to take turns and resist the urge to snatch items from their sibling’s hands.
To teach your children to behave and learn new things, you should give them reasons to share. Motivators are great to encourage a certain behavior, especially in children. You can always state that if your children are good, you will take them to a fun and exciting location, such as your local trampoline park. However, if your children choose to be naughty, you can use Rebounderz as a way to train them.

Tip 4: Using Alarms

A great way to teach your child to share is by using timers and alarms to indicate when their turn is done. You should clearly show them that you are setting an alarm for a certain amount of time. You should also state that when the timer is over, they must give up their turn. You may get a few tears, but as a parent, you must remain strong. If you allow for a few more minutes, or don’t fully stick to your alarm system, your child won’t take it seriously. So, once the alarm is done, you should tell your child to give their turn to someone else. If you receive any pushback from your child, you will need to put them on a time out to demonstrate why their response was unacceptable. If you don’t make it clear that your timing system is serious, and involves benefits and consequences, neither you or your child will adhere to it, making it impossible to teach your child to share.

Tip 5: Use Praise as a Motivator

As stated, verbal and physical praise are great motivators for your child. Your children respond well to praise, especially because they want to please you. When you reward them with positive responses, they are more likely to continue that specific behavior. If they successfully take turns with another child, you need to make it abundantly clear that their behavior was correct.
Rewards can take many forms. For one, you can use verbal rewards, such as telling your child how good they were. There are also physical rewards, such as hugs and kisses. You can also reward your child with special treats, such as candy, juice, and even play days.
Your local trampoline park is a great reward for your child, especially if they have been extra good lately. They can jump and play knowing that they were allowed to because they were sharing with others. Motivators are the best way to encourage good behavior in children.

Important Birthdays For Kids

For a kid, every birthday is a big, and important birthday. After all, it is a day that makes them the center of attention. Not only will they get birthday wishes from their friends and family, but they will be able to get special treats and presents on their birthday.
To a kid, their birthday is a really special time where they can enjoy getting older with their school friends and family. Best of all, they get to receive a slice of cake, perhaps a scoop of ice cream, and get to open their birthday presents. Birthdays are closely tied with the holidays; kids enjoy presents, candy, and parties. But, kids specifically enjoy good parties. If your child has a less than fun birthday party, they will not only remember it for the rest of their lives, but they will blame you for the experience. But don’t feel too much pressure, throwing a successful kid’s birthday party isn’t as challenging as you would think.
At Rebounderz, we make parties simple and fun. With our birthday packages, we can provide your party with not only a trampoline park, but food, and drinks. No matter if your child is eight or 18, a trampoline park party is fun for everyone — no matter the age!
In this blog, we will go over the important birthdays in your child’s life and how you can make these days special for them.

Their First Birthday

Your child’s first birthday is very important. For one, it is the day that they turn a year old. Although they might not remember this birthday, pictures and videos will make the party forever memorable. Even though your child won’t remember their first birthday, they will remember the footage of the special day. A one-year-old also won’t be able to use a trampoline — but the rest of the family can. If you would like to celebrate your families smallest member, yet still have a fun family outing, Rebounderz is an excellent place for the whole family to enjoy.

Their Fifth Birthday

Your child’s fourth, fifth, and sixth birthdays are all important because they are the years that they build memories of their childhood. During this time, your children will be learning and remembering at a very fast rate. Because of this, you want to make sure that their birthday is very special. After all, you want your child to build happy memories of their childhood and how much fun they had at their birthday party.

Their Eighth Birthday

When your child is eight they are just the right age to bring to Rebounderz. At Rebounderz, they can jump, run, play, and have fun at our indoor trampoline park. Here, they can enjoy all of our attractions, such as the obstacle course, and our trampoline dodgeball court. Eight-year-olds are also easy to entertain, which makes Rebounderz the perfect place to have your party. And, because eight-year-olds have such a keen sense of memory, it is important to make this birthday memorable.

Their Tenth Birthday

The “Big 1-0” is a special time for a kid. For one, they are getting older and have finally made it to double digits. Being 10 has its perks, one of them being that they can use their local Rebounderz for their birthday party. Our indoor trampoline park enables 10-year-olds to freely play with their friends and enjoy their youth. With the Rebounderz birthday package, your child and their friends can have one to two hours of unabridged jumping time. Not only that, but upgraded birthday packages include five-dollar arcade passes. If you are looking to make your child’s birthday spectacular, Rebounderz has got you covered.

Where Bouncing and Charity Meet

Bouncing and charity might seem very far apart from each other. How could bouncing on a trampoline make a difference? Well, Rebounderz Apopka has established an official night where institutions, such as schools and charities, can raise money for their cause. In this blog, we will discuss how this night can help your local schools and institutions grow and create a fundraiser everyone is sure to remember!

Fundraising Made Easy

On Spirit Night, Rebounderz opens its doors and sells tickets for an extremely low price.. Because of this, charities and schools can purchase tickets to set up a low-cost, enjoyable, fundraiser. Our Spirit Night is as easy as inviting the community to come support your organization. But, how does it work?

First Step: Print Out The Flyer

First, in order to run a proper fundraiser, you need people to know about it. When you sign up for Spirit Night with Rebounderz, we will offer you customized flyers with your school or organization’s information on it. We will send the flyer to you in a PDF file and then you can print it out and distribute it throughout your community. By doing so, you will not only have a well-organized flyer to entice people to attend your fundraiser, but you will have a way to spread the word and get more people to join you for your fundraiser.

Second Step: Invite Rick O’Shay To Your School

Once the word is out that you are having a fundraiser, people will want to join in the fun. But, of course, there will be those few people that will be hesitate at first. That is why Rebounderz will send our official mascot, Rick O’Shay to make a special appearance at your elementary school. So, while kids depart the school in the afternoon, Rick can wave to them and invite them to your fundraiser for you!
And, if Rick isn’t enough to coax your community through our doors, Rebounderz also can help organize contests for your guests. After all, the more fun involved in your fundraiser, the more people will want to join in. Contests can be anything from costume contests, best trampoline tricks, to even a dodgeball tournament.

Gift card purchases do not count towards the sales total at the end of the night.

Third Step: Make a School Announcement

Though Rebounderz can provide many features for your fundraiser, there are a few things that your school or organization must do to boost your guests’ excitement about the fundraiser. For instance, it is highly recommended that students are given a flyer to take home in folders. It is also wise to send the official flyer in an email to school staff and in the school’s newsletter. The school should also use the intercom at the school to make an all-school announcement about the fundraiser and when it will be. Ultimately, the more you remind your guests about the fundraiser, the more excited they will be to attend. This can also influence others who are not so keen on the idea of going to the fundraiser. One great way to influence people to go to Spirit Night is to publish a social media post on our official Rebounderz Facebook page. There, you and your community can ‘like’ and ‘share’ the information about your fundraiser to a larger audience of people than just your school or nearby community.

Fourth Step: Get Helpers

Because your fundraiser will have so many people in attendance, Rebounderz will need your help! Though we have a staff of our own, we will be sorely outnumbered the afternoon of your fundraiser. This means that we require at least three extra helpers to assist us with organizing your fundraiser. We will need specific help greeting your guests as they come through our doors, arranging the gear station, and helping out around the lounge areas. Your volunteers will also need to assist with facilitating any of the contests that you would like to complete during your fundraiser.

Fifth Step: Have Fun

It is important to have fun at your fundraiser. In just one evening you will be able to offer fun and excitement to your school or organization, as well as raise money from ticket sales for your cause. While at your local Rebounderz, you and your guests have full access of all of our attractions, such as our dodge ball arena, our foam pits, and of course, our trampolines. Learn more about our Spirit Night and visit your local Rebounderz today.

Socks: The World’s Greatest Invention

Long before the invention of any modern-day style of clothing, the sock made its debut appearance. That’s right, long before shorts, shirts, and even your favorite tank top, the sock reigned supreme to all other wearable items. It isn’t exactly known when the sock was invented, or even who invented it. All we do know is that it is an invention that revolutionized clothing and has been a valuable asset to humankind for many years.
In this blog, we will discuss the full history of socks and their contribution to humanity. We will also discuss how socks have evolved into multiple products and how they help make bouncing on a trampoline so much more enjoyable.

WhoInventedSocksForIndoorTrampolineParksInfographic

The History of Socks

Though no one knows when socks were invented, we can pinpoint when they were first referenced. For instance, in 8th century BC, Greek poet Hesiod wore piloi, which are said to be the easiest model of socks. These socks were made from matted animal fur and the main object of the socks was to protect his feet from rocks and dirt.

Romans

However, not too long after Hesiod was seen sporting piloi, the Romans soon had their own version of sock. Their socks were made from strips of leather and woven fabric and pulled over the foot. These were called “udones.” Socks were more of a way to keep your feet clear of infection for many years, however as humanity developed, socks were created to signify way more than just a consciousness of cleanliness and health.

The Middle Ages

During the 15th, 16th, and 17th centuries, socks became more of a fashion statement rather than for health and wellness. In the 16th century, the knitting machine made tightly woven hose possible for the masses. This revolutionized the sock and made long hose, or ‘stockings’ a widely accepted fashion statement. These types of hose were more accessible for both high-born and low-born people as the machine could produce more items in a short amount of time. However, though the machine allowed more stockings to be made, it also led to a hierarchy of stockings as well. For instance, before the knitting machine, lower-class families wore stockings made of heavier materials, such as wool. The higher classes had their stockings crafted with soft materials, such as silk. Stockings also quickly became a method to differentiate countries and houses. For instance, Spanish gentlemen used to embroider their stockings with their personalized emblems.

The 1920s

The sock didn’t get a major innovation until the 1920s and 30s. The invention of nylon in 1938 changed socks, as they were manufactured to featured elastic bands and stretchy materials. Argyle patterns were wildly popular in this time period, which inspired an entire generation of socks to feature this unmistakable pattern.

Modern Socks

Today, socks are made out of many different types of materials. Socks have also developed to feature a variety of patterns — seemingly with no limit. In fact, there are actual stores that sell exclusively just socks.

Rewarding Your Child with a Trampoline Day

Everyone can remember being treated to something as a child; it was that one special treat you received for behaving well. For example, if you got a good report card or got high marks from a teacher or a caregiver, your parents may have given you a treat for good behavior. In many instances, you were either given a delicious dessert, a later bedtime, or a fun outing. You then, out of instinct, associated good manners and behaviors with positive and uplifting things, making it far more likely that you would repeat your actions in the future.

In this blog, we will discuss some positive encouragements you can give your child so they learn good habits and behaviors. We hope this blog will be helpful, especially if it will inspire you to come up with new ways to treat your children for their good behavior.

Common Rewards

As stated, there are many common rewards parents will give their children. However, the reward does change depending on how significant the good behavior was. For instance, having good marks on your report cards would elicit a far larger reward than other smaller positive actions, such as brushing your teeth and combing your hair as a child. Though these are good behavioral actions, they aren’t demanding of a reward. And, some rewards are expected in a child’s everyday life, but taken away if they are acting poorly. This typically is the case for desserts or everyday benefits children get from their parents.

Desserts

Desserts are often used as a way to control childhood behaviors. For example, after dinner, most children will expect to get some type of treat, such as a piece of candy, chocolate, or ice cream. However, this positive reinforcement can be taken away from children when they misbehave. If your child is acting out, claiming that a benefit can be taken away will teach them not to repeat that specific behavior. After all, no one likes to have something of theirs taken away.

Children will always strive to do good deeds if they know they will get a present or a treat from the action. Any task you want them to do, say, cleaning their room, can be encouraged by a treat.

Later Bedtimes

Children are natural rebels. They want to stay up late and eat things they shouldn’t. Sometimes, if they have behaved well, you can let them stay up late and either watch TV or play with their toys. Either way, they are staying up past their bedtime and getting a thrill from the small bit of freedom. Though children don’t have to maintain a strict bedtime their whole lives, consistency is important. When children have routine in their lives, they are able to feel a sense of stability. When their bedtime is non-restrictive and unscheduled, this could lead to problems down the road.

For instance, if your child has an irregular bedtime, or their reward for good behavior is staying up late, they can assume that sleep is not that important. Because of this, your child can wake up the next morning feeling tired, cranky, and confused. Many times, when a child is tired, they won’t behave well or even listen to requests or commands. This, of course, doesn’t mean that your child regularly misbehaves. It simply means that they are tired and are easily irritated by things. As children, they don’t know how to release their frustration or even understand it; that is typically why tantrums will happen.

Negative Effects of These Benefits

Though sweet treats and late bedtimes are, in a child’s mind, great benefits — they aren’t exactly healthy for your child. For example, if your child repeatedly gets treats, such as candy and ice cream, when they are good, they can foster an unhealthy attachment to these things when they are older. Experiences, such as family outings, are a much more sustainable and healthy way to encourage your child to continue good behavior. For one, this benefit will allow them to appreciate activities and moments much more, rather than receiving quick satisfaction from something sugar-based.

Just as sugary treats can cause long-term problems, late bedtimes can be a problem as well. If you reward your child with a late bedtime, they will not only wake up tired but create a negative relationship with their bedtime. In fact, by treating your child with a later bedtime, you may make it more difficult to get your child to sleep every night. Unfortunately, they can relate good behavior with sleep. This, of course, will make it much harder to get them to sleep if they believe they have been good and deserve to go to sleep late.

Any parent will tell you that a child who doesn’t want to go to bed can be a big problem. After all, if your child doesn’t want to sleep, you won’t be able to get a wink. Children will stay up, make noise, and even shake you awake. It is best if to foster a good relationship with sleep and your child’s behavior, but making later bedtimes a reward is not always best.

Experiences and Physical Activities

If you would like to treat your child to a healthy reward, presenting them with fun, physical activities is best. When you treat your child with an experience, they are much more likely to value them and treasure them in positive ways. Also, by positively connecting rewards with physical activity, your child is much more likely to foster a good relationship with physical exercise when they grow up.
Putting a value on experiences rather than material or fast-satisfaction treats is much healthier for your child and will make them value other important things. However, though outings are valuable experiences, some parents struggle with finding places to take their children.

Rebounderz

Rebounderz is a safe, local indoor trampoline park that allows your child to bounce for hours. If you would like to treat your children with an experience they are likely never to forget, contact us today.

Things You Should Not Do While Pregnant… Continued

Pregnancy is quite the blessing. For nine months you will be able to foster a relationship with your child that you have never seen before. During your pregnancy, you will be able to care for your baby and carry them close to you. But, in this close proximity, you can be exposing your child to dangers you may not be aware of. Because your baby is inside of you, and dependent on you for safety and nutrients, it is ultimately up to you to make sure you are giving the baby what it needs. At the same time, you are also responsible for making sure that your baby is not in danger of infection or birth defects.
In our previous blog, we discussed some factors that could put you and your baby at risk. We will continue with listing off things that could harm you both, in the hope that by reading about possible threats, you will do your best to avoid them.

Trampolining

Trampolines are incredibly fun for people of all ages. Trampolines aren’t typically restrictive, but when you are expecting, it is best to keep off of a trampoline. During your first trimester, it is important to stay off your personal trampoline or to avoid going to indoor trampoline parks. In order to stay safe, you should always consult with your doctor and gain medical clearance if you would still like to bounce while pregnant. However, the clearance won’t last long, as you won’t be able to bounce in the second or third trimesters.
As the baby grows, you will be getting larger. When you grow, your body naturally will lose its original center of gravity and balance. Balance is essential for bouncing and if you aren’t balanced, you could fall. Any activity that put you at risk of falling should be heavily avoided during your second and third trimesters. Unfortunately, bouncing is one of them.
Aside from falling, while you are pregnant, you are at a greater risk of severely injuring yourself. During your second and third trimesters, your body will naturally release relaxin. This hormone is utilized in order to prepare your body for the eventual birth. The hormone loosens up your joints and relaxes your pelvis, making them vulnerable to injury. So, no matter how much an experienced jumper you are, one wrong fall could result in serious consequences for you and your unborn child.

Tanning

Tanning — any tanning — is not a good idea while pregnant. Both self-tanners and tanning beds both can pose a threat to your baby.
Fake tanning locations will have an ingredient called dihydroxyacetone (DHA). Though the chemical is non-toxic on the outermost layers of your skin, it can still be dangerous. Because you apply DHA to your skin repeatedly to get the perfect tan, your cells are exposed to the chemical. It is rare, but some people who use tanning lotion can have an allergic reaction to the solution. Whether you are pregnant or not, having an allergic reaction all over your body can be traumatic and cause your body to go into shock. Because of this, most pregnant mothers are warned to stay from tanning locations.
Tanning beds are not recommended for pregnant mothers. Because sunbeds give off ultraviolet (UV) rays, they are extremely dangerous for both mothers and their babies. UV rays can give off harmful radiation that can cause skin cancer in the mother, as well as birth defects in the fetus. Also, pregnant mothers will typically have more sensitive skin due to the intense concentration of hormones in their bodies. If you try to tan in a tanning bed you might find that you are more easily burned than you used to be.

Cat Litter

If you have a cat and you are pregnant, it is time for you to play that, “I am pregnant” card. Of course, you can still clean out the litter but you have to be very careful. Why? Well, toxoplasmosis is a common infection that occurs in most birds and mammals. The parasite called Toxoplasma gondii is typically found in cat feces and cat litter. Though the risk of getting the parasite while you’re pregnant is low, you will never want to take that risk. If you are infected during your first trimester, you might suffer a miscarriage or your baby might suffer from blindness or brain damage. It is important if you have to clean out the litter box, that you do so with gloves on. After you are done cleaning up the mess, you should wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. But, if you have a significant other, you may ask them nicely to clean it up while you are expecting.

Rebounderz

At Rebounderz, our goal is to make sure everyone in your family has a good time, safely. This, of course, includes the adults too. If you are pregnant, you cannot jump on our trampolines. Things You Should Not Do While Pregnant

Each year, there are 130 million new babies born in the world. Although, some argue that this number is actually much higher, as there is a prediction that at least 6 million babies are born but are not registered. So, with all of these births, there are millions of brave women that endure the labor of pregnancy. Pregnancy can be an immense blessing; however, it can also be very restrictive. There are many things that you are not allowed to do, or at least instructed to stay away from while you are expecting. Of course, it is up to the mother to determine whether or not to listen to medical professionals and pregnancy specialists.
In this blog, we will be discussing some of the things you should stay away from while you have a “bun in the oven.” Our hope is that, by reading about the things you should stay away from, you might be able to make smarter and healthier choices for you and your little one.

What You Should Not Eat

At the top of every medical professional’s priority list, it is to tell expecting mother’s what not to eat. Because what you eat can directly affect the baby, it is important that you adhere to prescribed foods and ignore foods on our “bad list.” This list is a run-down of all the problematic foods that could have effects on your fetus. Due to the fact that your baby directly receives nutrients from you, the mother, it is important not to expose your baby to bacteria and chemicals that you may ingest.

Bad List:

  • Fish
  • Raw Eggs
  • Soft Cheeses
  • Raw Meat and Shellfish

Fish: Fish generally will have some level of mercury in it. High-level mercury fish include sharks, king mackerel, swordfish, and tilefish. All of these sea creatures could expose your baby to trace amounts of mercury, which can be extremely unhealthy for a growing fetus. There are low-level mercury fish, such as tuna. However, even this type of fish should be eaten very sparingly.

Raw Eggs: Because raw eggs pose the threat of salmonella, you never want to eat them when you are pregnant. Because of this, hollandaise sauces, custards, eggnog, mayonnaise, and homemade Caesar dressings are all off limits.

Soft Cheeses: Your days of wine and cheese are over — at least for nine months. Soft cheeses can have listeria, which is a type of bacteria. Because it may have this bacteria, it is best to stay away from any soft cheese, such as Roquefort, feta, brie, and gorgonzola. Also, you will want to stay away from any cheese that isn’t made with pasteurized milk. Unpasteurized milk could have a plethora of bacteria that could be harmful to your baby.

Raw Meat and Shellfish: Eating raw meat on any day can be a risk. But when you are pregnant, it is best to be careful. Uncooked fish and meat have the potential to be contaminated with toxoplasmosis or salmonella. Because of this risk, sushi, oysters, mussels, clams, and red meat are all off limits.

Painting Your House or Nursery

If you are pregnant, you finally have a “license” to get out of certain tasks. For instance, if your house needs a fresh coat of paint, or even if your spare bedroom needs to be painted, you can get out of doing the task. There’s no real way to measure toxicity from exposure to paint fumes. Paint toxicity depends on the solvents used, as well as the chemicals in the paint. Most household paints are generally low in toxicity; however, not all paints are made the same. To lower your risk of paint toxicity, it is best to stay away from these types of household tasks. So, while you’re pregnant, don’t be afraid to count yourself out of household tasks, such as painting your nursery or home. Instead, you can relax and enjoy your time off instead.

Stay Away from Stilettos

No one can deny the captivating look of stiletto heels. Unfortunately, when you become pregnant, your center of gravity changes. Due to the change of balance, the added weight, and your swollen ankles, stilettos are no longer a reliable or safe footwear option. Besides, the larger you grow, the less likely you will want to wear any heels at all.
Stilettos won’t have an effect on your health, per se. However, the stress of wearing too- high shoes can change your mood. Also, because you will no longer be stable in your high-heeled shoes, you are at a greater risk of falling and hurting yourself.

Hot Tubs and Saunas

When you are pregnant, you have to assume that anything you do to your body, the baby will experience the consequences. Though hot tubs and saunas are quite enjoyable, they are dangerous for pregnant women, especially those in their first trimester. When you step into a hot tub or a sauna, you are essentially exposing your body to extremely high temperatures. As a result, your body is internally and externally heated, your heart rate increases, and you will sweat as a way for your body to cool itself down. This increase in temperature can be dangerous and cause certain birth defects in babies, especially those developing in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. So, instead of going into a hot tub or a sauna, you can just take hot baths. Baths are a great way to relax and heat your body, without causing any harm to your baby. Of course, you may not be able to take baths throughout your pregnancy, as the bigger you grow, the less likely you will be able to enter and exit your tub safely.

Trampolines

When you are pregnant, being on a trampoline isn’t recommended. During your first trimester, many physicians will recommend staying away from any jumping or intense physical activity. Of course, since the fetus is only just beginning to grow, there are some instances where you can still workout and bounce on a trampoline. This can happen when you are unaware that you are pregnant and still going about your day-to-day life. When you <b<do find out you are pregnant, you should refrain from jumping for the remainder of your pregnancy. During the second and third trimesters, you will gain weight and change your center of gravity and your posture. Balance is one of the first things that are altered during a pregnancy, which can make you more at risk for falling. Because of this, it is important that you don’t partake in any physical activities that could jeopardize your baby.

Rebounderz of Apopka

We will continue discussing why trampolining while pregnant can be dangerous for you and your baby, as well as other activities you should not do while you are pregnant.
Though you might be expecting, that doesn’t mean that the rest of your family can’t enjoy an indoor trampoline park. At Rebounderz, we have a sitting area where you can calmly relax while your other children jump and utilize our other attractions. If you are looking for a safe location to bring your children to play and allow yourself to get some time to yourself, Rebounderz is perfect. Contact us today.

In today’s world, there is no such thing as a sugar-coated message, or information that is received gently. No, today, we get hard-cut facts and harsh realities posted on every media outlet. Though burying our heads in the sand could drown out some of the negative news we are receiving about our world, it doesn’t stop it from happening. Our reality is that safety is not a guarantee. Due to this fact, parents are questioning whether they should enroll their children in summer camps. Fear, unfortunately, plays a huge roll in this mindset as parents question whether the summer camps in their area are capable of protecting their children.

We are here to say, camps are worth every penny. And, our camp works to keep your children safe.

Questions to Ask

Separating from your child can cause anxiety. No matter how old your child is, leaving them in the care of someone else can be nerve-racking. Summer camps are created to provide parents some free time in the summer, not anxiety. The idea behind summer camps is to keep children active and allow parents to go to work while their children play. Much of childhood is surrounded by the experiences of summer camps. Fear should not restrict your child from having these experiences. However, caution is never a bad thing. So, if you would like to send your child to a summer camp, the best thing you can do is complete a little research. Learn more about the camp you would like to send your child to and make sure you ask all the appropriate questions. In this blog, we will discuss some of the questions you should ask any summer camp you are considering. Hopefully, with our list of questions, we can give you peace of mind and allow you to send your child to a summer camp.

Is the Camp Licensed or Exempt?

An important question to ask before allowing your child to go to a summer camp is whether the camp is licensed or not. In the state of Florida, it is mandated that a camp (any camp) have federal licensing. In order to become licensed the camp must submit an official Recreational Camp Application to the Florida Department of Health. They also must pay workers up to $8.25 per hour and fully screen them for any criminal charges. Approved organizations may conduct FBI checks on their employees through the Volunteer & Employee Criminal History system which cost around $36 for each employee. Camps must also offer 30 minutes of break time after 4 hours of work (or playtime). To be considered as an official child care organization, a camp must also present the state with a clean, up-to-code facility. After all of these things are completed, and the state grants the camp licensing, only then can a camp care for children.

What is the Staff-to-Child-Ratio?

The ACA requires that ratios between staff and campers follows a strict 1:5 rule (based on age). This means that there must be one staff member for every five campers between the ages four and five. However, if the campers are older, such as ages six to eight, there can be one staff member for every six campers, and so on.

Are the Staff Trained in CPR and First Aid

You should also ask if your camp has employees that are all CPR and First Aid certified. Though accidents aren’t common, they can happen. Because of this, it is best to make sure you put your little one’s safety in capable hands.
You also may want to ask how old the staff are. For example, the ACA makes sure that 80 percent of camp employees are over the age of 18. Due to this standard, you will be leaving your child in an adult’s hands rather than a teenager’s. It can be argued that summer camps are actually safer and better for your child than regular babysitting. After all, babysitters can sometimes be younger than 18 and are not CPR certified or have any formal first aid training.

What Defense Systems Do You Have in Place

You can ask if the summer camp has any safety or defense systems or protocols in place. For example, you can ask if the summer camp has any natural disaster safety process to help protect children. If the fire alarm goes off suddenly, how will the staff collect and escort the campers out of the building safely? Asking these pertinent questions will mean the difference between sending your child to a camp that is unprepared to care for your child, and one that knows proper safety protocol.

Rebounderz

At Rebounderz, we offer summer camps and summer field trips to children in the Apopka, FL area. We hold safety at the top of our priority list. Simultaneously, we value each of our campers and strive to give them the best time possible. Summer camps are more than keeping your child busy during the summer, they are about giving your child the opportunity to meet new friends and experience new things. According to a recent statistic published by the ACA, 93 percent of children said they befriended other children that were different from them. Perhaps, summer camps aren’t just for experiences, but also to help children understand others.
If you are looking for a dependable summer camp for your child, feel free to contact us and ask us questions about our summer camp. Contact us today.
